This is the website of the Graduiertenkolleg 2638 on Normativity, Critique, Change at FU Berlin in cooperation with HU Berlin und UdK.
The new GRK 2638 seeks to study the specific structures of normative practices common to the arts, law, religion, language and morality. The GRK’s research agenda follows the hypothesis that in all these contexts, applying a norm in its full sense implies to also critically reflect upon the norm. Consequently, the realization of standards may lead to transformation.
The public lecture series »Kritik als Praxis. Praxis als Kritik« is dedicated to the possibly surprising hypothesis that the binding force of norms is based on critique. Therefore norms are at the same time subversive and obligating, distancing and integrating, alienating and appropriating. This proposition will be spelled out with regards to the arts, law, religion, language and morality. The lecture series thereby seeks to establish an interdisciplinary approach to the phenomenon of critique as a fundamental dimension of human practice.
The GRK's team consists of 14 participating professors, also called Principal Investigators (PIs), 14 docs und 2 post-docs as well as the coordination, the student assistants and an associated research group.
