This is the website of the Graduiertenkolleg 2638 on Normativity, Critique, Change at FU Berlin in cooperation with HU Berlin und UdK.
The new GRK 2638 seeks to study the specific structures of normative practices common to the arts, law, religion, language and morality. The GRK’s research agenda follows the hypothesis that in all these contexts, applying a norm in its full sense implies to also critically reflect upon the norm. Consequently, the realization of standards may lead to transformation.
The GRK's team consists of 14 participating professors, also called Principal Investigators (PIs), 14 docs und 2 post-docs as well as the coordination, the student assistants and an associated research group.
Our last guest at the GRK was Rebecca Comay, professor of philosophy and comparative literature at the University of Toronto. She formed part of a workshop in which we discussed
excerpts from Hegel's Encyclopedia as well as her text "Resistance and repetition: Hegel and Freud".
