The dispute over movement and the non-time of the struggle. (Notes for a performance on the way). (André Lepecki)

In this talk, "movement" will be treated as a fundamental political substance. As seen during the various "lock-downs" caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, this substance proved to be the core of fierce disputes around the concept of freedom. Looking at some recent performances (particularly by Davi Pontes & Wallace Ferreira, Marcela Levi & Lucia Russo, and Pauline Boudry & Renate Lorenz) we will see how this dispute over movement help us rethink — together with the critical theory of Denise Ferreira da Silva, Michelle Wright, and Sylvia Wynter -- the foundations of what we still insist on calling "time." In other words: another title for this talk could simply be: The continuous struggle: towards a choreopolitics without time.
